TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior pitcher Nicholas Mazzella has been selected as the Landmark Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week.
Mazzella tossed a complete game in the Greyhounds' 6-1 win over Elizabethtown College Sunday at Maplezone Sports Institute Sports Village to begin a Landmark Conference series. He allowed a run on three hits and two walks to go with a season-high seven strikeouts in the seven-inning game. Mazzella also had one putout and two assists in three chances in the field.
"Mazz had a great outing," commented Head Coach Paul Engelhardt. "It wasn't much different from most of his starts this year. He threw the ball with command, confidence, and lead our team. There isn't a kid more deserving based on the kind of character Nick has. I'm certain he would want to thank his teammates, and look beyond this to his next opportunity."
Moravian is scheduled to close out its Landmark Conference series with Elizabethtown College with the final nine-inning game of the series on Monday, March 26 at 4:00 p.m.
