NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. --- The Moravian College golf team is eight of nine teams after the second of four rounds of the 2012-13 Empire 8 Conference Championships at the Yahnandasis Golf Club Sunday.
The opening two rounds were played at Yahnandasis on Saturday and Sunday while the final two rounds of the tournament will be played at the Hershey Country Club on April 20th and 21st, 2013.
St. John Fisher College had a 291 team score on Sunday to move into first place after 36 holes at 596. Elmira College and The University of Scranton are tied for second with scores of 615. The Greyhounds had a two-day team score of 695 with a score of 338 on Sunday.
Individually for Moravian, senior Aaron Thieme is tied for 13th of 54 competitors after two rounds with a total of 158 after two rounds on the par 71 Yahnandasis course. Thieme shot an 80 in Sunday's round. Scranton's Erik Meyer has a total score of 144 and a three stroke lead heading into the spring portion of the tournament in April.
Freshman Evan Dickinson is tied for 32nd after two rounds with a score of 170, and he had an 82 in Sunday's round. Freshman Jim Maru is tied for 39th after an 88 in the second round for a total of 182 while junior Eric Schultz is in 44th place at 190 with an 88 on Sunday. Rounding our Moravian's lineup were freshman Brian Hall, who is in 50th place with a 198, and sophomore Scott Nevenglosky, who is 51st with a 204.
Moravian is not scheduled to compete again until Thursday, October 4th when the squad heads to the Elizabethtown College Fall Blue Jay Classic at the Hershey Country Club.
