DANIELSVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team opened its 2013 spring season by placing second of 14 teams at the Annual Moravian Spring Invitational played at the Woodstone Country Club Thursday as senior Aaron Thieme led the Greyhounds with a three-over par score of 75 to place second of the 73 individuals in the tournament.
Keystone College won the team title by one stroke over Moravian as Keystone had a four-man total of 314 while the Greyhounds had a score of 315. The University of Scranton and Ursinus College tied for third with scores of 327. Erik Ivarsson from DeSales University captured medalist honors with a low round of 73, one over par and one of 17 players to shoot sub-80 rounds in the tournament.
Thieme had five birdies in his round, which is his lowest 18-hole score of the season over six rounds. Freshman Evan Dickinson finished in a tie for eighth in the tournament with a round of 78 while senior Tyler Thompson tied for 12th with a 79. Freshman Jim Maru was tied for 25th with a round of 83 while junior Eric Schultz was tied for 62st with a 95. Freshman James Lobb and sophomore Scott Nevenglosky played as individuals for the Greyhounds had turned in rounds of 96 and 97.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, April 3rd in a tri-match with DeSales and York College of Pennsylvania being hosted by DeSales at the Brookside Country Club beginning at 1:00 p.m.
