HERSHEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team moved up a spot to seventh of nine schools after the third round of the 2012-13 Empire 8 Conference Championships being hosted by Nazareth College at the Hershey Country Club.
The Greyhounds had a team score of 334 Saturday for a three round total of 1,028 while St. John Fisher College remained in first place at 911. The first two rounds of the tournament were played last September while the final round will be played on Sunday.
Moravian senior Aaron Thieme had a round of 81 on Saturday and heads into the final round tied for ninth with a 239 through 54 holes. Freshman Evan Dickinson had an 88 in the third round for a three-round total of 257 while freshman Jim Maru turned in an 81 on Saturday for a 54-hole total of 263. Junior Eric Schultz heads to the final round at 282 with a 92 in the third round.
Senior Tyler Thompson was handling the place kicking and punting duties for the Moravian football team during the opening two rounds of the championship and unable to play, but he had a 84 in the third round for the Greyhounds while freshman James Lobb had a 96 in his first round of the tournament.
The final round is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. at the Hershey Country Club.
