HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team fell in its second straight road Landmark Conference contest, falling at Juniata College, 67-54, Saturday afternoon in Huntingdon.
The Greyhounds had two players in double figures let by senior guard C.J. Barnes, who had 18 points to go with six rebounds. Senior forward John Hargraves added 12 points and four boards while freshman guard Greg Eck had six points, five rebounds and a pair of assists.
Senior guard Mike Martino and junior guard Matt O'Connor each netted five points with Martino adding three steals and two assists and O'Connor grabbing three boards. Junior guard Deandre Tillett and freshman guard Nate Dougherty each had three points while freshman forward Ricky Melosky contributed three rebounds and two points.
Barnes opened the scoring with a three-pointer for the Greyhounds, and he connected on a lay-up at 17:31 to give the Blue and Grey a 5-3 edge. Eck knotted the score at 7-7 with a lay-up at the 14:32 mark before the Eagles went on a 12-2 run to open a double-digit lead. The Hounds closed within five points at 28-23 on a pair of free throws by Eck with 1:30 until halftime, and Juniata would head to the locker room with a 30-23 edge.
The Eagles connected on three straight three-pointers to begin the second half with a 9-0 run before Barnes hit a three-pointer. The Greyhounds closed within eight points, 59-51, on a three-pointer by Dougherty with 2:40 remaining but that would be as close as the Blue and Grey would get.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, January 22 when the team hosts Drew University in a Landmark Conference game beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
