Bill Nets 200th Career Goal as Hounds' Rally for Non-Conference Win at St. Joseph's (L.I.)

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. --- Moravian College junior attack Liz Bill scored five goals including her 200th career goal and four tallies in the second half to help the Greyhounds rally for a 17-11 non-conference victory at St. Joseph's (L.I.) College in the Hounds' final non-conference match of the season Thursday evening.

The Blue and Grey, now 12-6 on the year, had six goal scorers with Bill, who is the second player in school history to reach 200 career goals, adding six draw controls and three ground balls to go with her five goals. Sophomore midfielder Meaghan McMullan added four goals, two assists, four draw controls and a pair of ground balls while freshman midfielder Lindsey Strohl netted three goals with three draw controls, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Senior attack Jillian Picciuto, the other player in program history more than 200 career goals with 230 goals, had two goals, five assists, four draw controls and two ground balls. Freshman attack Eliza Fantazzi had two goals while senior attack Kyleigh Miller had one goal and senior attack Dalia Aguilar added one assist.

Senior goalie Kelley Gavin made the start between the pipes with six saves and a pair of ground balls in 30 minutes of action while sophomore goalie Courtney Heist had one save in the second half. Sophomore defender Olivia Clearie contributed five caused turnovers, four ground balls and three draw controls while senior defender Melissa Webber, freshman defender Jamie Bader and freshman attack Kelsey Moore each scooped up two ground balls.

The Greyhounds, who tied the school record with 51 shots in the match, the second time this season that Moravian has taken 51 shots in a contest, took a 1-0 lead just 34 seconds into action when Strohl found the net off of a pass from McMullan. Bill tallied her first goal at the 23:16 mark to make it 2-0 as she scored her milestone goal. The Golden Eagles scored three of the next four goals to knot the score at 3-3 with 11:50 left in the first half. With the score tied at 4-4, McMullan and Picciuto each scored within 32 seconds of each other to send the Blue and Grey to the intermission with a 6-4 edge.

St. Joseph's opened the second half with four straight tallies to build an 8-6 advantage. Moravian responded with six straight goals including three by Bill as the Hounds flipped the two-goal deficit into a four-goal lead at 12-8 with 16:45 left in the match. Moravian's defense would allow just three more goals to the Golden Eagles over the final 15 minutes while the Hounds scored five more times to secure the victory.

Moravian is slated to finish the 2019 regular season with a Landmark Conference match at No. 17 The University of Scranton on Saturday, April 27 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The winner of the match will host the other squad in a Landmark Conference Semifinal contest on Wednesday, May 1 at a time and site to be determined.
