Bio
Dustin Rommel is beginning his third season as the head jumps and sprints coach at Moravian in 2013-14, and he will assist the cross country program again this fall.
Rommel, who is USATF level one certified, most recently worked at Rock Canyon High School in Colorado for two years where he was the assistant track & field coach for jumps and sprints. While at Rock Canyon, Rommel developed the jumps into an elite program with in the Centennial Conference, he coached an athlete that went on to place second in the triple jump at the 5A Colorado State Championship. Rommel also worked at Sports Performance Technologies; there he developed speed and strength workouts while conducting weekly speed clinics for various sports programs, and he was a personal trainer.
As an undergraduate, Rommel ran track and field at Western State College. During his time there he was a part of the 2008 Indoor Rocky Mountain Athletic Championship Team, and was also a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Indoor and Outdoor qualifier from 2005-2009. He also earned a spot on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Indoor & Outdoor Teams from 2007-2009.
Before that Rommel worked as a student sprints coach for the Western State College track & field team. There he designed workouts for the sprinters and jumpers, along with a weight room program.
Rommel graduated with a Bachelor’s of Art degree in Exercise and Sports Science in May 2009 from Western State College. He then received his Master’s in Sports and Exercise Science in December 2010 from the University of Northern Colorado.
