Director of Men's & Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann

Bio

Jesse Baumann is entering his 16th year as Director of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field in 2026-27. In his first 25 years with the program, Baumann led the men’s cross country team to five Landmark Conference Championships and the women’s squad to Landmark titles in 2011, 2013 and 2025. He also coached the first male cross country All-American in 2014 and a female All-American in 2016.

Baumann has also led the indoor and outdoor track & field teams to 46 conference titles. Baumann has coached 38 All-Americans while sending 55 student-athletes to the NCAA Division III National Championship Meets in track & field in 15 years.

Baumann came to Moravian after five years as the head women’s cross country coach and track & field distance coach at Lynchburg College. Baumann began his coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Baumann is a 2004 graduate of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in watershed management, and he completed his Master of Science Education degree at Lynchburg in 2010. As an undergraduate, Baumann was a six-time NCAA Division III national meet qualifier and a four-time All-American in the 800 meters, 1,500 meters and distance medley relay. Baumann has a USATF Level 1 Certification, which he earned in 2007, and has earned his USTFCCCA Certification in sprints, relays, hurdles, jumps, and strength and conditioning.
