Why did you choose Moravian College?
I chose Moravian College because of the outstanding softball and business management program. When I took my first visit to Moravian I knew it was the college for me.
What is your major and why?
I am an organizational business management major with a focus in human resources. I chose this major because it really gives me the opportunity to work with people and be around different types of people which is what I enjoy. Growing up my grandmother worked in human resources and dealt with different types of people and she worked with others very well, and I feel I would be great at that as well.
What has been your favorite course at Moravian and why?
My favorite course was Introduction to Physiology. I never knew how interesting the human brain was! I learned about why we do certain things and what makes us do them. My teacher was awesome and the class was always so interesting.
What are your plans for the future once you finish your degree at Moravian?
I plan to continue at Moravian for a 5th year and receive my MBA. From there, I plan to work in the human resource department, hopefully somewhere locally.
What is your most memorable moment as a Greyhound?
One of my most memorable moments was Conference finals my freshman year. For the first time in many years, we were not the favorite to win. We were the second seed and we were not hosting the conference finals. But we made it to the conference finals and I didn’t make just one but TWO diving catches! I was so proud of myself but even more proud that my team won the conference finals against first seed, Susquehanna 8-0! The moment we won everyone went crazy and it was the best feeling in the world. Even though we weren’t the first seed, we definitely proved to everyone we were there to win it and keep the title of Landmark Conference Champs for the fifth straight year!
How has being an athlete helped you as a student?
Being a student athlete defiantly helps me with my time management. I find myself, during season, maintaining better grades and staying more focused than when I am not in season. It also helps me stay organized. I need to keep track of work, practice, workouts and school all at the same time. Before college, I would have never been able to do that. But now I write everything down and make sure I don’t miss anything.
What is the hardest part of your sport?
The hardest part of the sport is definitely the mental aspect. Everyone knows how to field and hit a ball in college. But it’s the girls that can pick themselves up from a play or an at bat, practice hard, and make it better that are going to be successful in college.
Why do you wear your jersey number?
I wear number 4 because of my bible verse I have on everything. Phillipans 4:13 is a verse that has been with me since I was little and means a lot to me. I have always been either 4 or 13 for that reason.
What advice do you have for a prospective Moravian College student-athlete?
Play every moment like it’s your last, practice hard and if you make a mistake pick yourself back up and do it ten times better next time.
