Holmes & Moyer Honored on 2022 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams
GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Moravian University junior catcher Derek Holmes has been honored on the 2022 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 5 First Team while graduate student first baseman Brett Moyer was selected to the All-Region 5 Second Team.
GREENSBORO, N.C. --- Moravian University junior catcher Derek Holmes has been honored on the 2022 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region 5 First Team while graduate student first baseman Brett Moyer was selected to the All-Region 5 Second Team.
Holmes and Moyer helped the Hounds post a 22-18 record this spring with an 8-10 slate during the Landmark Conference regular season.
Holmes, who was also named to the 2022 D3baseball.com All-Region 5 First Team as well as the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2021 and 2022, posted a school record .460 average this season to go along with a school record 69 hits, and he added 34 runs, 15 doubles, a triple, four homers and 37 RBIs. Holmes, who began 2022 as Moravian's starting catcher before an injury forced him into the designated hitter role for the remainder of the year, has recorded 102 hits, 53 runs, 18 doubles, a pair of triples, five homers, 56 RBIs and 10 stolen bases in 74 career games with a .402 career batting average, a .465 on-base percentage and a .547 slugging percentage. Holmes has posted 135 putouts and 29 assists from behind the plate with 14 runners caught stealing including 13 this spring.
Moyer, who was selected to the 2022 D3baseball.com All-Region 5 Third Team while making the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2022 and the Second Team last year, posted a .347 batting average this year with 50 hits, 22 runs, 15 doubles, two homers and 40 RBIs. He recorded a .332 career average with 114 hits, 61 runs, 99 RBIs, which is tied for ninth in program history, 32 doubles, which is tied for tenth in school history, two triples, five homers and 47 walks to go with a .439 on-base percentage and a .481 slugging percentage in 116 career games. Moyer also had 688 putouts, fifth in school history, and 28 assists in his career.
