Heck, Payne Added to Football Coaching Staff
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College has added 2012 graduates Ian Heck and Seth Payne to its football staff for the upcoming season.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College has added 2012 graduates Ian Heck (Easton, Pa.) and Seth Payne (Collingswood, N.J.) to its football staff for the upcoming season.
"We are excited to have Ian and Seth continue to be part of the Moravian football program,' stated head coach Jeff Pukszyn. "They both have been great contributors on the field for the last four seasons, and we look for them to continue their contributions on the coaching side of the ball."
Heck will coach the kickers for Moravian after spending the last three years as Moravian's starting place kicker. Heck connected on 37 of 40 extra-point attempts in his career including a perfect 11-for-11 in 2011, and he was 15-for-25 on career field goal attempts with a long of 41 yards. Heck also made 95 kickoffs in his career for an average of 53.0 yards with five touchbacks, and he also punted four times in his career for an average of 32.8 yards. Heck was named to the 2012 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.
Payne will coach Moravian's defensive line after competing on the line the last four years. Payne, who earned a spot on the 2010 Centennial All-Conference Second Team, played in 41 career games with 119 total tackles including 52 solo stops. Payne also made20 and a half tackles for loss and seven quarterback sacks in his career to go with seven pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble for the Greyhounds.
Moravian will begin its 2012 preseason on Sunday, August 12th with its first practice, and the Greyhounds open the regular season on Saturday, September 1st when they host Ithaca College at 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field in the team's only non-conference game of the year.
