Moravian Sees Fourth Quarter Lead Slip Away at Catholic
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team had a nine-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, and the Greyhounds were up three with 1:38 to go before host The Catholic University of America scored the game’s final nine points to defeat the Hounds, 69-62, in Landmark Conference action Sunday afternoon in our nation’s capital.

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team had a nine-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, and the Greyhounds were up three with 1:38 to go before host The Catholic University of America scored the game's final nine points to defeat the Hounds, 69-62, in Landmark Conference action Sunday afternoon in our nation's capital.
How It Happened
- The Cardinals scored the game's first five points before freshman forward Sam Osorio scored for the Hounds. Catholic pushed its lead up to eight points, 16-8, before the Blue and Grey scored six straight points to pull within two at 16-14 on a pair of free throws from sophomore guard Jackie Kelly with 1:32 left in the quarter. Sophomore guard Madison Amy beat the clock at the end of the period as the Greyhounds trailed 18-16 after 10 minutes of action
- Madison Amy made it a one-point game, 20-19, 29 seconds into the second period with a three-pointer. Catholic answered and stretched the lead to five points at 28-23 with 5:16 before the intermission. Moravian responded and scored five straight points to tie the score at 28-28 on a jumper by freshman guard Reganne Flannery at the 3:59 mark. Flannery knotted the score again at 32-32 with two free throws about two minutes later. Kelly sank a lay-up in the final seconds as the Greyhounds trailed 36-34 at halftime
- Madison Amy started the second half with a lay-up and sophomore guard Morgan Amy sank two free throws to give Moravian a 38-36 lead. Madison Amy would connect on a three-pointer to make it a 41-38 advantage, Flannery added a lay-up for a 47-41 edge with 3:26 left in the period. Junior guard Kayla Yoegel sank a lay-up with 11 seconds left in the quarter as the Blue and Grey led 53-44 after 30 minutes of action
- Catholic scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter to knot the score at 53-53 before Flannery made a lay-up. The Cardinals would tie the game again at 56-56 and 58-58 before Madison Amy hit a jumper to put the Greyhounds up 62-59 with 1:38 to go. However, Moravian would not score again as Catholic netted the contest's final nine points

- Sophomore forward Emily Markowski made her first start of her collegiate career and had three points, three assists and two rebounds
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had two players in double figures with Madison Amy netting a team-high 16 points while Yoegel tossed in 11 points to go with a career-high five blocked shots
- Flannery tied her career-high with eight points
- Freshman forward Gracie Hezel had career-highs of four rebounds and three points
- The Greyhounds shot 44.4 percent (24-for-54) from the floor for the game but were just 4-for-14 (28.6 percent) in the final 10 minutes
