"We are pleased to announce Nick Zambelli, Sal Pagano, Nick Tone and Brett Poling as our captains this fall," stated eighth-year Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn, who was also a captain when he played for the Greyhounds from 1994-1996. "All four are outstanding leaders both on and off the field. They are obviously well respected by their teammates and will do a tremendous job leading the team. Having two seniors and two juniors exemplifies the type of leadership that the 2018 Greyhounds have."
Tone has played in 28 games on the defensive line and will be in his third season as a starter in 2018. Tone has recorded 72 tackles with nine tackles for loss, six sacks, two fumble recoveries and two pass break-ups in his career.
Zambelli was picked as a captain for the second straight season, and he has seen action in 31 games over his career as a starting safety with 164 tackles. He was selected to the 2017 Centennial All-Conference Second Team and was also honored as both the Centennial Conference Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Centennial Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year throughout all sports in the conference. Zambelli also has one quarterback sack, seven interceptions and 17 passes defended in his career.
Pagano, a running back, has been limited to 10 games over his career due to injury, and he has one reception for 28 yards to go with two tackles on special teams.
Poling will be in his third season as a starter on the offensive line this season for Moravian having seen action at both right guard and center during his first 20 games in a Greyhound uniform. He was also selected to the 2017 Centennial All-Conference Honorable Mention squad.
Moravian begins the 2018 season with its only non-conference contest of the year as the Hounds welcome King's College to Rocco Calvo Field on Saturday, September 1 for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
