Thieme Tied for 9th after Opening Day of Empire 8 Tournament
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. --- Senior Aaron Thieme of the Moravian College golf team is tied for ninth of 54 golfers after the opening round of the 2012-13 Empire 8 Conference Championships Saturday at the Yahnandasis Golf Club.

The Greyhounds had an opening day score of 357 while Elmira College is in first place with a total of 300. St. John Fisher College is second at 305 while The University of Scranton is third at 306.
Thieme fired an opening round 78 on the par 71 golf course, and he is tied with two other players for ninth. Erik Meyer of Scranton has the individual lead with a two-under par 69.
Moravian other five golfers in the four-round tournament are freshman Evan Dickinson, who had an opening round of 88, freshman Jim Maru, who turned in a 94, freshman Brian Hall, who had a 97, junior Eric Schultz, who had a 102, and sophomore Scott Nevenglosky, who had a 106.
The Greyhounds will return to the Yahnandasis Golf Club for the second round of the tournament on Sunday, Septmeber 16th. The final two rounds of the 2012-13 Empire 8 Conference Championship will be played on April 20th and 21st at the Hershey Country Club.
