Greyhounds Fall in Hard-Fought Match to Muhlenberg on John Makuvek Field
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men’s soccer team dropped a hard-fought, 3-1 decision to rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action Wednesday night on John Makuvek Field.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team dropped a hard-fought, 3-1 decision to rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action Wednesday night on John Makuvek Field.
Moravian, which is now 6-3-3 on the season after allowing multiple goals in a contest for just the third time this fall, had one solid chance in the opening 45 minutes when freshman forward Ethan Blakely fired a shot on the keeper in the 25th minute.
The Mules had two opportunities in the first four minutes of the second half with Moravian senior goalie Bryan Yaskowski making back-to-back saves on the line including one while lying on the ground. The Hounds used the momentum from the saves to net the first goal of the match as senior midfielder Brett Lubben scored his second marker of the season as he tapped in a crossing pass from senior midfielder Connor Phillips in the 50th minute.
Junior defender Michael Guarino would clear the ball off of the line and Yaskowski made another save to keep the Mules off of the scoreboard. Moravian tried to answer again the defensive stop again with Lubben putting a shot on the keeper, freshman midfielder Alec Aloia hitting the crossbar in the 55th minute and junior defender Matthew Clayton shooting on goal 20 seconds later.
However, Muhlenberg found the tying goal in the 61st minute and just 1:04 later, the Mules took a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick. Muhlenberg scored another goal in the 85th minute.
Yaskowski finished the match with five saves while the Greyhounds' defense cleared another two shots off of the goal line.
The Greyhounds are slated to return to the pitch on Saturday, October 14 when the team travels to The Catholic University of America in a Landmark Conference contest starting at 3:30 p.m.
