Lorah Earns All-America Honors for 8th Place in Javelin at NCAA DIII Championships
LA CROSSE, Wis. --- Junior Timothy Lorah of the Moravian College men's track & field team earned All-America honors with an eighth place finish in the javelin on the third and final day of 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship hosted by The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
LA CROSSE, Wis. --- Junior Timothy Lorah of the Moravian College men's track & field team earned All-America honors with an eighth place finish in the javelin on the third and final day of 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship hosted by The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
Lorah led the Greyhounds with his eighth place throw of 64.50 meters (211 feet, seven inches) with the throw coming on his third attempt of the meet. Lorah was eighth after the preliminaries and each of the nine competitors in the finals of the javelin finished with their best marks being recorded in the three preliminary throws. Lorah, who was competing at the national championships for the second straight year and earned All-America honors for the first time in his career, had throws of 56.47 meters, 60.81 meters, 64.50 meters, no distance, foul and 57.69 meters on his six attempts in the competition.
Moravian had two other competitors on the final day of the meet with senior Travis King and junior Kristopher Joint both in the men's triple jump.
King was making his first appearance at the NCAA Championships, and he finished 12th in the event at 14.32 meters (46 feet, 11 ¾ inches), which came on his second of three attempts in the first flight of the preliminaries. King's other attempts were 13.97 meters and 14.02 meters, and he was sixth after his flight was completed.
Joint, who was at the NCAA Championships for the second time this year after earning All-America honors indoors in the long jump, competed in the second flight. Joint was 14th of the 20 competitors with a top distance of 14.25 meters (46 feet, nine inches) which also came on his second attempt of the meet. Joint's other two jumps were 14.02 meters and 14.13 meters.
The Greyhounds earned one point for Lorah's All-America finish in the javelin, and Moravian was tied for 72nd of the 79 men's teams that earned a point.
