TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior thrower Shane Mastro has been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Mastro captured the shot put at the Kutztown University Last Chance Qualifier with a PR distance of 14.95 meters (49-0.75). Mastro was also fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.63 meters (48-0).
"Overall our throwers had a really good meet on Friday and Shane was no exception," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "He's been slowly coming back from a knee injury in the fall and despite a pretty slick circle, he managed to set his indoor shot put PR and one of his best ever weight throws. It was nearly a meter improvement for him in the shot put which improves his ranking for regionals and puts him on the cusp of making regionals in the weight. Cleary, this is encouraging as we enter conference week. Shane has just put his nose to the grindstone, no nonsense, worked his tail off and it's pretty clear that's paying big dividends this season."
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, February 29 when the Greyhounds head to Susquehanna University for the 2020 Landmark Conference Indoor Championship as the Hounds look to win their 12th conference title in the 13-year history of the conference.
