Women's Basketball Squad Heading to England May 23-31
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team is heading England on Tuesday, May 23 for eight days of sightseeing and international games. A travel party of 22 including eight players will depart from Newark Airport for an overnight flight to London.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's basketball team is heading England on Tuesday, May 23 for eight days of sightseeing and international games. A travel party of 22 including eight players will depart from Newark Airport for an overnight flight to London.
This will be Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk's fifth European trip she has taken with a Greyhound team, and when the team returns, Spirk will assume the role as Moravian's Director of Athletics in addition to being head coach.

After landing in Manchester, England on May 24, the Greyhounds will tour the city before heading off to Liverpool. The squad is scheduled to spend the morning of May 25 touring Liverpool on foot and by bike, and the Greyhounds will play their first game on the trip that evening against the Manchester Mystics. The team will remain in Liverpool on May 26 with a tour of the Beatles Story Museum and a bus tour.
On May 27, the group will depart Liverpool for Oxford, England and an afternoon tour. Later that day, the team heads to London for the rest of the trip. Sunday, May 28 begins with a bus tour of London before a game against the London Lynx late in the afternoon. The group will get to see the Tower of London, ride on a river cruise to the South Bank and ridge the London Eye along with free time to explore the city.
The final day of the trip on May 30 begins with a trip to Windsor Castle followed by a trip to Vauxhall and the final game of the week against the London Sharks that evening.

The NCAA allows schools to travel internationally once every three years outside of the traditional season to play games in other countries. The Greyhounds traveled to Spain and Portugal on their last trip in 2014. Moravian's other international trips have taken the women's basketball team to the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany in 2011, Italy in 2008 and Ireland in 2005.
