BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College and Stevenson University women's soccer teams cancelled their non-conference match on John Makuvek Field Wednesday evening due to a pair of lightning delays.
The squads were first interrupted with approximately 20 minutes left in their pre-match warmup when lightning moved into the Lehigh Valley and within 10 miles of the complex. After waiting nearly an hour inside of Johnston Hall, the teams received the all clear and returned to the field to finish pregame.
The starting lineups were announced and during the playing of the national anthem, lightning moved back into the area sending the teams back into the locker rooms. After several more bolts of lightning that moved start time to at least 8:45 p.m., the teams agreed at that point to cancel the contest.
Moravian is now scheduled to return to action on Saturday, September 29 when the squad hosts Susquehanna University in a Landmark Conference contest beginning at 4:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
