2023-24: Smurla competed in the mile, 800, 1500, 3000, 5000, 10k, and 4x800m events.
2022-23: Smurla competed in the 6k event in the cross country season and also competed in the 800, 1500m, the mile, 3000m, 5000m, and 10,000m events in the track and field season. Smurla was awarded Lnadmark All-Conference First Team Honors in the cross country season, along with Rookie of the Year. Also earned NCAA DIII Metro All-Region Honors for finishing in the top 35 at the cross country regionals. Smurla was also awarded the USTFCCCA Academic Award. Awarded Landmark All-Conference Second-Team in the 5000m run. Awarded Second Team All-Conference in the 10,000m run along with USTFCCCA's Metro All-Region 10,000m Team.
