BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College football team has opened the 2015 season with a pair of road victories, and the Greyhounds will finally get a chance to play at Rocco Calvo Field on Saturday, September 19 when the squad welcomes No. 11 Johns Hopkins University to Bethlehem for a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game on Family Day.
Moravian's offense is averaging 355.5 yards per game including 196 on the ground with junior running back Chris Negron averaging 115.5 yards per game. Last Saturday, Negron became the 10th player in school history to surpass 2,000 yards in a career while junior wide receiver Jalen Snyder-Scipio moved into eighth in the Greyhound record book with 91 receptions in his career. Junior quarterback Mike Hayes has completed 25-of-47 passes this fall for 319 yards and three touchdwns.
The Hounds' defense ranks second in the Centennial Conference, allowing just 264 yards per game and only 95.5 yards per contest on the ground. Senior defensive back Anthony Orlando has a team-high 14 tackles with senior defensive lineman Tim McCabe has three and a half tackles for loss so far in 2015. Freshmen linebackers Steve Ewald and Owen Perih along with Orlando have made interceptions this season while senior defensive back Jimmy McCarthy has knocked down three passes and is averaging 39.9 yards per punt.
