Moravian's Nejad & Orlando Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College sophomore tight end Nick Nejad and senior safety Anthony Orlando have named to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Team for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 43 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District First Team, Nejad and Orlando are now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced on December 1. There are a total of 18 student-athletes from the Centennial Conference on Academic All-District Teams.

Nejad is majoring in Economics with a track in finance and has a 3.45 GPA. This season, Nejad, who missed last weekend's game against Gettysburg College due to an injury, has grabbed two passes for a total of 59 yards, with a long of 31 yards.

Orlando, one of the team's co-captains this fall, is majoring in sociology and has a 3.73 GPA. Orlando has made 55 tackles, four pass breakups, two interceptions, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery. He has been named to the Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll once, and he was on the Centennial All-Conference First Team in 2013 and the All-Conference Second Team in 2014.

"Nick and Anthony have had a tremendous impact on the Moravian football program both on and off the field," commented Head Football Coach Jeff Pukszyn. "They work extremely hard in practice as well as on game day on Saturdays, and they both have a hand in the success the team has had this fall. They also both put the same effort into their academics which is what will benefit them the most in their future endeavors once they graduate from Moravian."
