MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College men's basketball team defeated Landmark Conference opponent Drew University 84-76 on the road in a game that saw four Greyhounds score in double figures Wednesday evening.
Leading the way for the Blue and Grey was junior forward Brandon McGuire, who scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds on his was to his 9th double-double this season and the 17th in his career. McGuire also added three blocks, two assists and one steal on the night. Just behind McGuire was freshman guard Jimmy Murray, who scored 20 points including shooting 10-for-10 from the foul line, one rebound and one steal while freshman forward Oneil Holder added another 12 points and a career-high 13 rebounds to give him his 4th double-double of the season. Rounding out the double-digit scorers was junior guard Isaiah Jennings, who tossed in 10 points to go with four assists, two steals and a rebound.
Also coming up big for the Hounds was freshman guard Jake McGee, who contributed eight points, one rebounds and one assist while junior guard Sean Hanna added six points, five assists, three steals and two assists.
Moravian would start the game out slow allowing the Rangers to hold a five point lead throughout the first five minutes of play. However, the Greyhounds would rally back to take a lead off of a Jennings jumper seven minutes into the first half. From there, the Hounds would build a six-point lead with seven minutes remaining in the first half off of another basket by Jennings. At halftime the Blue and Grey would find themselves down by a score of 43-39.
Drew would maintain its lead well into the second half of play until the Rangers picked up a technical foul with 8:40 left in the game that sent Murray to the line for four foul shots. After making all four free throws, the Greyhounds took the lead and never looked back going up by as many as ten points in the waning minutes.
First Year Head Coach Justin Potts' new up-tempo, pressure style of play led the Greyhounds to force 19 turnovers in the 40 minutes of play versus the Rangers.
Up next for the Greyhounds will be their last road game of the season as the team travels out to Elizabethtown College for a Landmark Conference contest on Saturday, February 13 at 2:00 p.m.
