TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College sophomore Shane Mastro has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.
Mastro helped the Greyhounds finish third of eight teams at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet Saturday as he captured first place the discus with a toss of 45.22 meters (148-4), the seventh best throw in school history. Mastro also finished third in the shot put with a toss of 14.47 meters (47-5.75).
"Shane has really broken out in the shot put ever since the middle of indoors and developed a consistency he was lacking at times last year, then he really stepped up in the disc on Saturday as well bettering his PR from last year in every single attempt," noted Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "You sometimes hear about the second-year jump in pro football, and Shane has undeniably taken that leap this year in the throws this year and is going to be a huge part of our success going forward."
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 6 in the Muhlenberg College Invitational at Scotty Wood Stadium in Allentown.
