BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College baseball team is scheduled to begin its 2018 season with a pair of southern trips including three games in Virginia to start the campaign in late February.
The Greyhounds will make their annual trip to the Floyd B. Wilcox Memorial Tournament hosted by Hampden-Sydney College on February 23-25 with games versus Stevenson (Md.) University, host Hampden-Sydney and Wesley (Del.) College. After a game at Kean University on February 28, the Hounds will head to the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida for six games from March 4-9 including two games each with Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College and Heidelberg (Ohio) University and single contests versus Bluffton (Ohio) University and Otterbein (Ohio) University.
After playing the first 10 games of the year on the road, Moravian returns home to Gillespie Field for the home opener on Thursday, March 15 versus New Jersey City University. The game with the Gothic Knights is the first of 17 home games over six weeks for the Greyhounds.
The Blue and Grey will kick off the 2018 Landmark Conference season with a three-game series versus The Catholic University of America on March 17-18 at Gillespie Field. There is a change in the conference set up this season with the weekend doubleheader consisting of one seven-inning game and one nine-inning game while the single contest on the second day of the series will remain a nine-inning contest.
Moravian will close out a five-game home stand with outings versus Montclair State University on March 21 and Keystone College on March 22. After a weekend Landmark Conference series at Elizabethtown College on March 24-25, the Hounds return to host Misericrodia University on March 26 before heading to Arcadia University on March 27.
The Greyhounds then host Juniata College on March 30-31 with the single game of the series on Friday, and the Hounds host Albright College on April 3. Moravian goes to Susquehanna University for a three-game series on April 7-8 before a four-game home stand that includes Rowan University on April 9 and a Landmark Conference series with Drew University on April 14-15.
Moravian heads to Alvernia University on April 18 before the final home doubleheader of the season with Vassar (N.Y.) College on April 21. The Hounds finish off the regular season with a five-game road trip with single contests at Rutgers-Camden on April 24 and DeSales University on April 25 before a three-game Landmark Conference series at The University of Scranton on April 28-29.
The Landmark Conference Tournament will be held May 10-12 at Scranton's new turf field this season with a double-elimination format over the three days with the conference champion receiving an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
