GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Moravian College field hockey team fell to Arcadia University, 2-1, Thursday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Catherine Duffin scored the lone goal for the Greyhounds.
Moravian started the first half with two quick shots on goal from junior midfielders Chelsea Grotyohann and Kariann Badessa, but both were saved and blocked. Senior defender Stephanie Pezzello then made two defensive saves at the seventh and ninth minute to keep the match knotted at zero. The Knights then broke the tie with two minutes left in the half off a goal from senior forward Marilyn Beatty.
Moravian would put the pressure on in the second half, and it would pay off with goal from Duffin just 11 minutes in. Arcadia would match that goal with Beatty's second goal to go ahead 2-1 in the 53rd minute. The Greyhounds would try to comeback, but fell 2-1 in the end.
Pezzello finished with six of Moravian's eight defensive saves while junior goalkeeper Andrea Eck made seven saves in 70 minutes of work. Knights senior goalie Sarah Baumgardner tallied four saves in the win.
