Moravian Men Win Three Events in Greyhound Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's track & field squad had three event winners as the Hounds hosted the annual Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field on Friday and Saturday.

Senior Robert Condo captured the javelin with a toss of 60.07 meters (197-1) while junior John Spirk won the 400-meter hurdles in 54.61 seconds. Freshman Zion Howard captured first place in the 400-meter dash in a time of 49.67 seconds while sophomore Evan Lutz placed tenth in 52.37 seconds.

Sophomore Greg Jaindl was the runner-up in the 5,000-meter run in 15:27.23 while junior Devon Harris took third in 15:35.92. Senior Andrew Mitchell was fifth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:01.95 while freshman Peter Gingrich took ninth in the race in 4:09.34. Senior Josh Toth was seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:39.55 while freshman Franklin Musnuff was tenth in 11:03.98.

Senior Mike Kopach placed third in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:56.35 while freshman Justin Beasley-Turner took sixth in 1:58.55. Junior Woodrow Battle was third in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles in 17.15 seconds while senior Eric Morton finished ninth in the 100-meter dash preliminaries, missing the final by three-thousandths of a second.

Junior Scott Goodwin was the runner-up in the pole vault at 4.71 meters (15-5.5) while senior Preston Weidner was tenth at a height of 3.81 meters (12-6). Sophomore Roland Cash was fifth in the triple jump at 13.22 meters (43-4.5) while freshman Michael Elo was tenth in the triple jump at 12.75 meters (41-10) and eighth in the long jump at 6.21 meters (20-4.5). Sophomore Nick Cregar was ninth in the javelin at 46.72 meters (153-3).

In action Friday, junior Hunter Gibson was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.03 meters (144-5) while sophomore Ryan Harper finished sixth at 41.23 meters (135-3) and junior Tyler Bergsma was seventh at 40.42 meters (132-7). Freshman Shane Mastro was seventh in the shot put with a mark of 12.85 meters (42-2) while Bergsma was a spot back at 12.74 meters (41-9.75).

Moravian is scheduled to compete in two meets this week with several competitors heading to the Penn Relays while the rest of the squad will compete in the Lehigh University Games on Saturday, April 28.
