Fegely, Dalickas & George Named to ECAC South All-Star Teams
CENTERVILLE, Mass. --- Senior pitcher Alyssa Fegely of the Moravian College softball team has been named to the 2013 ECAC Division III South All-Star First Team announced Friday while sophomore outfielders Jenn Dalickas and Dior George earned spots on the Second Team.
CENTERVILLE, Mass. --- Senior pitcher Alyssa Fegely of the Moravian College softball team has been named to the 2013 ECAC Division III South All-Star First Team announced Friday while sophomore outfielders Jenn Dalickas and Dior George earned spots on the Second Team.
The Greyhounds under the direction of 20-year head coach John Byrne, who as a career mark of 646-205, posted a 30-12 overall record this spring, the 20th consecutive season that Moravian has won at least 23 games, and a 7-3 mark in Landmark Conference regular season action. The Greyhounds, which have won over 30 games 14 times under Byrne including the last 13 years, had a string of 13 straight conference titles stopped this spring as the program made its 19th consecutive appearance in the postseason.
Fegely, who was the 2013 Landmark Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year and named to the All-Conference First Team, had an 11-3 record this season with seven shutouts, a no-hitter in her season opener, a 1.92 ERA, 30 walks and 77 strikeouts in 87.2 innings pitched. At the plate, Fegely, who was also on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team a year ago, had a .311 average with 19 hits, ten runs, four doubles, a home run and 15 RBI. She also had seven putouts and 15 assists in the field in 22 fielding chances.
Dalickas, who is a two-time member of the Landmark All-Conference First Team and the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-East Region First Team, led Moravian with a .444 average with 56 hits, 30 runs, 15 doubles, two triples, a team high four home runs, a team leading .690 slugging percentage and 35 RBI. Dalickas heads into her junior season just two hits shy of 100 for her career. Dalcickas had 14 putouts and two assists in the field this year while splitting time as a designated player and outfielder.
George, who was a First Team All-Conference selection the past two seasons, the 2012 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and on the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-East Region Second Team for the second straight year, set the school record with 56 runs scored this season, and she became the fourth sophomore in school history to reach 100 career hits. George had a .406 average this spring with 58 hits, 15 doubles, two triples, two home runs, a .580 slugging percentage, nine stole bases and 21 RBI. In the field, George had 54 putouts and one assist in 56 chances from her center field position.
Both Dalickas and George were on the ECAC South All-Star First Team in 2012.
