Cadee Rockwell & Abigail Schaffer Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team
Juniors Cadee Rockwell and Abigail Schaffer of the Moravian College women’s track & field team are two of 328 student-athletes from 102 NCAA Division III institutions named to the 2011 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III All-Academic Team.
NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Juniors Cadee Rockwell (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson West Lawn HS) and Abigail Schaffer (Easton, Pa./Easton HS) of the Moravian College women's track & field team are two of 328 student-athletes from 102 NCAA Division III institutions named to the 2011 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III All-Academic Team.
The USTFCCCA honors Division III individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
Rockwell, a distance runner, met the provisional qualifying time in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs during the outdoor season, ranking 22nd in the 10,000-meter run. Last fall, Rockwell, pictured at left, competed in the 2010 NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championships after earning All-Mideast Region honors.
Schaffer, a pole vaulter, won both the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor National Championships in the event with meet record heights of 4.14 meters (13 feet, seven inches) indoors and 4.17 meters (13 feet, 8 1/4 inches), breaking marks set by Moravian graduate Anna Heim in 2010. Schaffer, pictured at right, also captured the Landmark Conference titles in the pole vault both indoors and outdoors, and she was 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Champion. Schaffer is one of ten NCAA Division III national champions to make the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
The duo helped the Greyhound women capture their fourth straight Landmark Conference Championships both indoors and outdoors.
