Volleyball Picked 4th in Landmark Preseason Poll
TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women’s volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2013 Landmark Conference preseason coaches’ poll.
TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2013 Landmark Conference preseason coaches' poll.
Six-time defending Juniata College was selected first in the poll with 60 points and six first place votes while Susquehanna University and The Catholic University of America were tied for second with 38 points with Susquehanna earning one first place vote. The Greyhounds received 30 points in the poll, nine points ahead of fifth place The University of Scranton.
"We look forward to competing against very formidable Landmark opponents," stated 21st-year Head Coach Shelley Bauder. "We have a young squad this year that is physically and mentally preparing to do what it will take to succeed against those teams during post-season play."
Moravian was 29-9 last fall, setting a school record for victories and reaching the championship match of the 2012 ECAC Division III South Championships at Bethany (W.Va.) College.
The Greyhounds have nine letterwinners and five starters back for the 2013 season and a total of 13 players on the roster.
Moravian opens the season by hosting the 11th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational on Friday and Saturday, August 30 and 31 in Johnston Hall and Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse. The Greyhounds open the nine-team, three-court tournament with a match versus Ursinus College in Johnston Hall at 4:00 p.m. Friday.
