Greyhounds Open Landmark Season Sunday
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women’s volleyball team will begin its 2013 Landmark Conference season on the road Sunday as the Greyhounds travel to Selinsgrove for matches with Goucher College at 10:00 a.m. and The University of Scranton at 12:30 p.m. in the first Landmark Conference Round Robin Weekend of the season hosted by Susquehanna University.

The schedule for the weekend is slightly different for the Greyhounds since their first scheduled opponent, The United States Merchant Marine Academy, is unable to travel and compete due to the federal government shutdown. Instead of two matches on Saturday and one Sunday, Moravian will play both of its contests on Sunday this weekend.
The second Landmark Conference Round Robin Weekend is slated for October 19-20 at USMMA where the Greyhounds will play their remaining four conference contests.
"I'm excited to begin conference play and the past few weeks have definitely prepared us for this weekend," stated Head Coach Shelley Bauder.
The Greyhounds are 8-10 so far this fall. Moravian split four matches last weekend at the York College Spartan Invitational, and the Greyhounds are used to playing two matches in a day with 16 of their 18 matches this fall coming in tournament action with a pair of matches each day.
"We have many options with our lineup, and I'm very pleased with the depth of our team," Bauder said.
Senior setter Kelly Brown runs the Greyhounds offense with 674 assists this year, and she leads the squad with 20 service aces to go along with 171 digs and 50 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Hostetler has posted a team high 192 kills to go with 147 digs, 14 blocks and 10 service aces this fall while freshman middle blocker Taylor Kornmann leads the squad with 43 blocks and a .328 hitting percentage to go with 184 kills.
Sophomore middle blocker Victoria Bobyak has contributed 137 kills, 32 blocks, 19 digs and 17 service aces for Moravian while junior outside hitter Kelianne Comitalo has 75 kills, 93 digs and 12 service aces. Junior outside hitter Taylor Jennings also has 75 kills to go with 38 digs while freshman libero Kim Groff has a team high 276 digs to go with 31 assists and 20 digs.
Freshman right side hitter Lauren Piccinich has 50 kills and 23 blocks in her debut season while sophomore defensive specialist Andrea Giardina has contributed 100 digs and six service aces. Sophomore setter Megan Szkolnicki has 19 service aces and 32 digs this fall while senior right side hitter Katelynn Strohl has added 34 digs and nine service aces. Senior middle blocker Brittany O'Hara has 21 kills and 19 blocks while freshman middle blocker Jaclyn Smith has contributed 12 blocks and eight kills this fall for the Greyhounds.
"Each year brings new blessings and challenges," Bauder said. "I'm excited to see how we will continue to grow and perhaps surprise some people out there."
