Greyhounds Finish Third in Metro Regional as Hefferan Qualifies for Nationals
LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. --- The Moravian University men’s cross country squad finished third of 26 teams in the 2025 NCAA Division III Metro Region Championships hosted by Rowan University at Gloucester County DREAM Park Saturday morning.

How It Happened
- The Hounds scored 81 points while The College of New Jersey won the race with 56 points to claim the team automatic berth to the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championships at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina next weekend. Swarthmore College took second with 76 points while Haverford College was just three points behind Moravian in fourth at 84 points
- Junior Gavin Hefferan led the Greyhounds with a sixth place finish among the 179 runners with a personal time of 24:45.8 on the 8,000-meter course. Hefferan was one of the seven individuals to receive a berth to the NCAA Championships next weekend, and he earned All-Region honors for the second straight year
- Senior Bryan Kerchner placed tenth in a time of 24:51.5 for his third straight All-Region honor while graduate student Cole Frank was one spot back in 11th at 24:55.6 to earn All-Region
- Junior Nate Moore finished in 20th in a time of 25:26.6 to garner All-Regiona accolades while freshman Braeden Knotts took 34th overall in 25:55.9 to receive All-Region
- Junior Logan Betyeman was 42nd in the race at 26:19.1 while senior Joe Allegro placed 53rd in 26:32.5 to round out the Moravian runners
