Moravian Cross Country Teams to Compete at Lehigh on August 29 to Start 2025 Schedule
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men’s and women’s cross country squads are slated to open the 2025 season on Friday, August 29 with a pair of 6,000-meter runs at the Lehigh University Invitational at the Goodman Campus. The men will run at 6:00 p.m. followed by the women at 6:30 p.m.

The Greyhound men have captured the last four Landmark Conference Championships, and Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann returns 17 runners as the Hounds looks for a five-peat. Moravian will also look to defend its NCAA Division III Metro Regional Championship and earn a second straight trip to the NCAA Division III National Championships. Leading the Greyhounds will be senior Bryan Kerchner and junior Gavin Hefferan, who both earned NCAA Division III Metro All-Region and Landmark All-Conference First Team honors last year. Junior Nate Moore made the Landmark All-Conference Honorable Mention squad last season.
The women's team has 11 returning runners from a squad that finished as the Landmark Conference runner-up and fifth at the NCAA Division III Metro Regional last November. Senior Tara Smurla was an NCAA Division III All-American with a 29th place finish at the national championships, and she was the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Metro Region Women's Athlete of the Year after winning the regional meet and made the Landmark All-Conference First Team. Senior Tori Champagne made the Landmark All-Conference Second Team last fall while junior Alexis Hockenberry earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Honorable Mention squad.
