Greyhounds Defeat Loras as Szmodis Sets Doubles Record
KISSIMMEE, Fla. --- The Moravian University women’s tennis squad defeated Loras (Iowa) College, 6-1, in non-conference action at Oak Street Park in Florida on Spring Break Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
- The squads competed in singles action with freshman Natalia Smith earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory at third singles to put the Greyhounds ahead 1-0. Senior Izzy Szmodis posted a 6-4, 6-0 win at second singles while freshman Kaelyn Balko won 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles for a 3-0 advantage. Junior Leah Zolotareva registered a 6-0, 4-6, 10-8 triumph at first singles before the Duhawks won in three sets at sixth singles. Junior Sydney Shifman recorded a 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles to push the Moravian lead to 5-1
- The Blue & Grey won two of the three doubles contests to garner the doubles point to finish the match. Balko and Smith won 6-1 at second doubles while Szmodis and Zolotareva earned a 6-2 victory at first doubles to clinch the point. The victory also gave Szmodis her 57th career doubles win to break the school record of 56 set by Corrine Kleinsmith between 1998-2001
