BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University has named Elliot Schott as Assistant Director of Athletic Digital Media & Content Creation in the athletic communications department effective July 1.
"We are thrilled to welcome Elliot to our Greyhound family," stated Associate Director of Athletics for Student Experience Brynn McNamara. "In a candidate pool of over 90 applicants, Elliot's portfolio and personality rose to the top of our list and I am excited to integrate her skillset into our athletic communications efforts. Social media and video production were the two areas our department had identified as areas for growth, and I know that Elliot will help elevate our platforms and social media strategy."
Schott comes to Moravian after completing four years as the Student Creative Media Director in the Ursinus College Athletic Communications office while working on her degree in Arts, Media and Communications and Business Economics with a concentration in management.
"I am so excited for this opportunity at Moravian," Schott exclaimed. "Digital media and content creation are becoming increasingly important in the sports industry, and I am eager to be able to utilize this for Moravian. I am passionate about both creating content and being able to share the skills I have gained with others. I am ready to collaborate with our department, student-athletes, and coaches to bring our athletics to the next level."
In addition to working in the athletic communications at Ursinus where she began the Bears' TikTok account, Schott was a Student Content Creator for the main Ursinus College Communications Department. She also served as a photographer/videographer for the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team for two years as well as interning with the Ursinus College Sports Network.
"Social media can be a great tool to use in sports not only to showcase athletics, but to be able to share a team's personality and relationships within," explained Schott. "Especially with recruiting, the dynamic of a team is such a vital component to share that some people do not think of. To showcase the dynamics of our teams, I think one way to enhance the Greyhounds' social media is to use TikTok more. We could create TikTok accounts for each team to reach more student-athletes and post more highlight reels."
Schott was a four-year member of the Ursinus Women's Golf team, and she was a three-time selection to the Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
"I was a Division III student athlete for four years at Ursinus. I do think this will guide me in this role because I know what my team wanted from our athletic communications department. As a student-athlete, recognition for your hard work is very important and I want to ensure I am providing that for our student-athletes. I look forward to working hand in hand with student-athletes and capturing the content that they want to see," finished Schott.
