Salvatore Reaches 300 Career Points as Hounds Run Past Misericordia
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s lacrosse squad scored four goals in the first six minutes of the match on the way to a 15-3 non-conference victory over visiting Misericordia University under the lights on John Makuvek Field Wednesday.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds opened the scoring just a minute and a half into the contest as freshman midfielder Kathryn Hunsinger found the net off a pass from senior attack Jackie Salvatore. Salvatore made it 2-0 at the 10:19 mark before she set up goals from senior midfielder Alex Cherenson, freshman midfielder Ella Steirer and sophomore attack Melissa Elefonte to give the Blue & Grey a 5-0 lead with 7:16 to go in the first quarter. The Cougars got onto the scoreboard next with a goal before tallies from senior midfielder Madi Dippel and sophomore midfielder Reagan Reiner had Moravian leading 7-1 after 15 minutes of action
- Misericordia netted the first goal of the second period to cut the score to 7-2 while the Hounds scored four times in the final 7:34 with two goals from Cherenson and one each by Elefonte and Hunsinger to head to the intermission with an 11-2 edge
- The Greyhounds had the only goal of the third period as Cherenson scored off an assist from Salvatore four and a half minutes into the third quarter
- Moravian opened the fourth quarter with a goal by junior attack Victoria Salica off a Salvatore pass, and with 11:13 to play Elefonte completed a hat trick off a Salvatore assist as Salvatore became the second player in program history to reach 300 career points. Salvatore added a goal for the Hounds late while the Cougars netted the final goal of the contest
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had eight players record points with Salvatore contributing 10 points on two goals and eight assists to give her 301 career points, trailing just Jillian Picciuto '19, who holds the school record with 390 points. Salvatore also tied Picciuto for the school record with 153 assists after a career high eight helpers against Misericordia, and Salvatore is just four assists shy of tying the Landmark Conference career mark. Salvatore recorded six draw controls and three ground balls as she also surpassed 100 career ground balls
- Cherenson finished with four goals and a draw control while Elefonte added three goals and a pair of ground balls
- Hunsinger netted two goals while Dippel had a goal, an assist, two ground balls and two draw controls
- Steirer, Reiner and Salica each scored one goal with Steirer scooping up two ground balls and causing two turnovers
- Senior defender Leah Hoskin and junior midfielder Gianna Lotito both added a pair of ground balls while graduate student defender Keara Reilly had three caused turnovers and two draw controls
- Junior goalie Kayla Graef registered two saves and two ground balls in the first half of the contest while sophomore Elle Burd had three saves and two ground balls in the final 30 minutes of action
- The Hounds had a 35-13 advantage in shots, a 24-16 edge in ground balls, a 12-10 edge in draw controls and went 21-for-24 on clearing attempts
