#17 Softball Splits Doubleheader with Misericordia
The 17th-ranked Moravian College softball team had its 13-game winning streak snapped in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader at Misericordia University, falling 4-3, but the Greyhounds would earn a 6-3 win in the second game to split the twinbill Thursday afternoon.

In the opener, the Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Misericordia would load the bases and score on a one-out RBI single from freshman designated player Sami Cragle.
The Greyhounds tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth. Sophomore third baseman Shannen Mohr, pictured at left, led off with a double and moved to third on a single from junior pitcher Jenna Carmon. Two outs later, freshman outfielder Miranda Sergas connected on an RBI sacrifice fly to score Mohr.
Misericordia would take the lead right back in the bottom half of the fourth inning on another RBI single from Cragle.
Moravian scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead. After an out, Sergas hit a double and scored on an RBI double from senior outfielder Amanda Paulus. Senior shortstop Maura Agnew followed with an RBI single to score Paulus with the go ahead run.
The Cougars scored a pair of unearned runs on a two-out, two-RBI triple from freshman second baseman Emily Hullings to win the game in the bottom of the seventh.
The Greyhounds had an 8-7 edge in hits with Sergas going two-for-two and Mohr going two-for-three. Cragle was three-for-three for Misericordia with two RBIs and a double.
Carmon had her own personal eight-game winning streak snapped in the circle for Moravian as she allowed four runs, just one earned, on seven hits and a walk to go with four strikeouts. Sophomore Caitlin Cromley earned the win for the Cougars after giving up three runs on eight this while striking out three batters.
In the second contest, Moravian took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Mohr led off with a double and scored on a one-out RBI single from sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely, pictured at left.
The Greyhounds extended their lead to 2-0 when Mohr led off the fourth inning with a solo home run, her first homer of the season.
Moravian's lead would go to 3-0 in the top of the sixth inning when freshman outfielder Taylor Mihalik connected on another solo homer, her first collegiate home run.
The Greyhounds scored three times in the top of the seventh for a 6-0 lead. Senior designated player Stephanie Falzarano had an RBI single and would score the final run on a wild pitch while freshman pinch hitter Elizabeth Tillou added an RBI ground out.
Misericordia pushed three runs home in the bottom half of the seventh inning on an RBI single from senior shortstop Nicole Werner and a two-RBI double from sophomore first baseman Kat LaBrie.
Moravian had an 8-7 edge again in hits with Mohr going two-for-three with two runs and an RBI on her homer. Freshman catcher Cassie Ernst, pictured at right, was two-for-two for the Greyhounds. Senior third baseman Holly Sarnak was two-for-three to lead the Cougars.
Fegely earned the win in the circle for the Greyhounds, allowing three runs on seven hits to go with nine strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Carmon earned her second save of the season, striking out the only batter she faced. Cromley took the loss for Misericordia with three runs on seven hits and three strikeouts in six innings of action.
