#20 Emory Drops #11 Moravian, 5-3
The 11th-ranked Moravian College softball team dropped a 5-3 decision to 20th-ranked Emory (GA) University in a battle of Top 25 teams at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida Tuesday.

Emory jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Catcher Jessica Boni came up with the bases loaded and two outs, and she delivered a three-RBI triple to clear the bases.
Moravian would score twice in the top of the third to pull within a run. Senior outfielder Maura Agnew led off with a single and scored on an RBI single from senior outfielder Amanda Paulus while Paulus, pictured at right, crossed the plate on an RBI single by senior outfielder Stephanie Falzarano.
The Eagles answered with a run in the bottom half of the third to push their lead to 4-2 on back-to-back doubles from designated player Megan Light and outfielder Jessica Thomas. Emory scored again in the fifth when Light walked with two outs and scored on another double by Thomas.
Moravian would get its final run in the top of the seventh inning. Senior Olivia Evanko led off with a pinch hit single, and freshman Cassie Ernst also had a pinch hit single for the Greyhounds. After an out, freshman catcher Taylor Mihalik hit an RBI single to score Evanko.
The Greyhounds had a 7-5 edge in hits over the Eagles with Mihalik going two-for-two. Light and Thomas were both two-for-two for Emory.
Sophomore pitcher Alyssa Fegely took the loss in the circle for Moravian, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two batters. Bridget Holloway earned the win for the Eagles after giving up three runs on seven hits to go with six strikeouts.
