Moravian Tops Catholic in Landmark Conference Semifinals
ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The top seeded Moravian University women’s tennis squad topped fourth seeded The Catholic University of America, 4-2, in a Landmark Conference Semifinal match at Winning Touch Tennis-Lehigh Valley Friday to advance to the conference championship contest.

How It Happened
- The Cardinals opened the match by winning 6-2 at second doubles and 6-3 at first doubles to claim the team point. The third doubles match was left unfinished for singles action to begin with Catholic taking the 1-0 lead
- Junior Izzy Szmodis was the first to finish in singles action, posting a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) triumph at second singles before sophomore Sydney Shifman gave the Hounds a 2-1 edge with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 victory at third singles
- Sophomore Leah Zolotareva recorded a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win at first singles to put the Blue & Grey ahead 3-1; however, Catholic recorded a win at fifth singles to close the gap to 3-2
- Sophomore Ali Bender won a tiebreaker in the second set of her sixth singles match for a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) triumph that clinched the match for Moravian
- The fourth singles contest was left unfinished with the Greyhounds winning the contest
- The Hounds have reached the Landmark Conference Championship match for the sixth consecutive season and tenth time since the conference began in 2007-08. Moravian and Scranton have faced off four times for the Landmark Conference title with the Hounds winning all four times heading into the match on Sunday
- The Greyhounds are looking for their sixth Landmark Conference title and first since 2021
