Leonard, Bedell Capture Events at Coach P Open
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field teams hosted the 4th Annual Coach P Open in memory of former Head Coach Doug Pollard Saturday at Rocco Calvo Field & Timothy Breidegam Track. This year’s non-scoring meet featured 29 teams and nearly 2,000 entries in the invitational.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's track & field teams hosted the 4th Annual Coach P Open in memory of former Head Coach Doug Pollard Saturday at Rocco Calvo Field & Timothy Breidegam Track. This year's non-scoring meet featured 29 teams and nearly 2,000 entries in the invitational.
The Moravian women had two individual event champions Saturday and four ECAC Division III Championship qualifying marks with senior Micah Leonard winning long jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.60 meters (18 feet, 4 ½ inches), a distance that is ninth on the Track & Field Results Reporting System list that will have the top 22 individuals and top 16 relay teams at the end of the season in each event heading to the NCAA Division III National Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Leonard was also the runner-up in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 11.53 meters (37 feet, ten inches), a distance that would be tenth on the TFRRS list but Leonard is already fifth in the event.
Sophomore Devon Bedell won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:49.19 while senior Emma Pacheco was the runner-up in 12:56.74.
Sophomore Dana Fineman finished fifth in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 3.35 meters (ten feet, 11 ¾ inches).
On the track, Moravian 4x100-meter relay team of sophomores Brianna Wright, Brielle Sutter and Morgan Redmond and freshman Corinne Glass finished second with an ECAC qualifying time of 49.19 seconds, which is 29th on the TFRRS list. Glass also placed tenth in the 100-meter dash in 13.08 seconds, and she was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 26.76 seconds. Sutter was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 26.60 seconds.
Sophomore Emily Lambright took sixth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:01.05
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 19th and 20th when the host the Greyhound Invitational at the Timothy Breidegam Track & Rocco Calvo Field.
