Fourth Quarter Scoring Leads Greyhounds to Win over Lycoming at The Palestra
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s basketball squad out-scored Lycoming College, 21-4, in the fourth quarter to post a 51-36 Landmark Conference victory Sunday evening in the final game of the fourth annual Landmark Conference Gameday at The Palestra.

How It Happened
- The Warriors scored first while a lay-up by junior forward Grace Steffen knotted the game at 2-2 three minutes into action. Senior guard Juliana Vassallo gave the Hounds a 4-2 edge, and she also drained a three-pointer and jumper back-to-back for an 11-8 advantage. Lycoming countered and tied the game at 11-11 after ten minutes of action
- The squads struggled to score in the second quarter, combing for just 11 points in the period. The Warriors scored the first five points, and the Greyhounds would not get onto the scoreboard until a Vassallo lay-up at the 3:44 mark. Vassallo drained another three-pointer to tie the game at 16-16 in the final minute of the half while Lycoming hit a late free throw to take a 17-16 edge to the intermission
- Moravian began the second half with an 8-0 run capped by a lay-up from Steffen as the Blue & Grey led 24-17 just over two and a half minutes into the third quarter. Junior forward Lanie Herbert sank a free throw to push the edge to 28-19 with just over four minutes left in the third quarter; however, the Hounds saw a 13-0 run by Lycoming flip the lead. Vassallo beat the buzzer to end the quarter with the Warriors on top, 32-30
- Sophomore guard Ellie Wallbillich and junior guard Lizzie Lustig both had three-pointers to start the fourth quarter as Moravian took the lead for good just 33 seconds into the period. Lycoming cut the Hounds' edge to 39-36 with 7:10 to go, but that would be the last point the Greyhounds' defense allowed, finishing the game on a 12-0 run
Inside the Numbers
- Vassallo led Moravian with 17 points off the bench to go with three steals while Lustig finished with nine points and eight rebounds
- Sophomore guard Megan Elias contributed seven points, seven rebounds and two steals while Wallbillich contributed five points and four assists
- Steffen posted seven rebounds and four points while freshman guard Abby Hayes added four points and five boards
- Herbert pulled down a game-high nine rebounds to go with three points and four blocked shots while senior guard Jayda Cartagena had three boards and two points
- The Blue & Grey shot 18-for-58 from the field (31 percent), 4-for-8 beyond the three-point line and 11-for-20 at the charity stripe, and the Hounds held a 45-40 edge on the boards while forcing the Warriors into 18 turnovers
- Moravian improved to 2-1 in games played in the historic Palestra, and the Greyhounds are the only program, men or women, to play three contests in the Landmark Conference's four years at the venue
