Big Third Quarter Lifts Greyhounds Past Juniata for Fourth Straight Victory
HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s basketball squad outscored host Juniata College, 22-9, in the third quarter on the way to a 60-46 Landmark Conference victory Saturday as the Greyhounds finish the regular season with a four-game winning streak and clinch the fifth seed in the 2026 Landmark Conference Tournament.

How It Happened
- The Hounds scored first on a jumper by senior guard Jayda Cartagena before the Eagles scored twice for a 4-2 edge. The Blue & Grey countered with three baskets to take an 8-4 lead on a lay-up from junior guard Lizzie Lustig at the 6:06 mark. Juniata moved back on top at 10-8 while senior guard Juliana Vassallo hit a jumper to knot the score again at 10-10. Sophomore guard Mallory Elias drained a three-pointer to give Moravian a 13-10 edge, and the Greyhounds let 15-12 after ten minutes of action
- The Eagles netted the first two baskets of the second quarter to retake a 16-15 advantage. Junior forward Lanie Herbert put the Hounds back on top before Juniata led 18-17 with 6:08 left in the first half. Moravian's defense did not allow the Eagles to score in the remainder of the second quarter while the Greyhounds moved ahead on a Herbert lay-up and netted the final six points of the half to take a 23-18 lead into the intermission after two free throws from sophomore guard Kylie Cabana in the final second
- Herbert began the second half with a lay-up, and Juniata cut it to 27-21 with 8:48 on the clock. The Blue & Grey had a 10-0 run midway through the quarter as three-pointer from Elias had Moravian up 41-23 with just over four minutes left in the period. Cabana had a late jumper to keep the Hounds' lead at 18 points, 45-27, after 30 minutes of play
- The Greyhounds posted a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter with a three-pointer from Cartagena pushed the lead to 54-27 with 8:33 remaining. The Eagles closed the gap over the remainder of the contest as Moravian emptied the bench
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had two players in double digits led by Herbert, who recorded her second straight and fifth overall double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds to go with four blocked shots
- Sophomore guard Ellie Wallbillich tossed in 11 points to go along with seven rebounds while Cabana registered eight points, three rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals
- Elias had eight points and two boards while Cartagena finished with seven points and three steals
- Vassallo and Lustig both netting four points with Vassallo adding three rebounds and Lustig contributing five boards and three assists
- Sophomore guard Megan Elias and junior forward Bellisima Lew each had two points with Elias grabbing two boards while sophomore forward Kate Donaldson posted three assists, two rebounds and two steals
- The Hounds shot 24-for-74 from the field (32.4 percent), 3-for-16 on three-pointers and 9-for-10 at the foul line, and the Blue & Grey forced the Eagles into 23 turnovers while committing just 10 miscues
