Moravian Second Half Rally Comes Up Short at Susquehanna

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds scored the opening points of the contest with sophomore guard Dylan Costa connecting on a free throw and following it up with a lay-up for a 3-0 edge. Junior guard Joel Baez drained a three-pointer to put the Blue & Grey up 8-5 before the River Hawks ran off 11 straight points for a 16-8 advantage six and half minutes into action. The Hounds countered with a 6-0 run to pull within 16-14 on a lay-up by senior forward Marquis Ratcliff at the 12:48 mark
- However, Moravian would get no closer in the rest of the first half after trailing 20-18 on a Baez lay-up with 11 minutes left in the half. The Greyhounds were held scoreless over the final 3:33 of the half as Susquehanna took a 44-28 lead into the intermission
- Costa drained the three-pointer to begin the second half before the River Hawks countered with a 14-5 run to open up a 22-point lead at 58-36 with 14:47 still to play. Down 60-39, Moravian ran off 13 straight points to cut the deficit to single digits at 60-52 with 10:16 remaining after a lay-up from junior guard/forward Riley Flood
- Baez made a lay-up at the 9:47 mark to set the score at 62-54, but that would be as close as the Blue & Grey would get the rest of the game
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had three players in double figures led by Baez, who had 16 points to go along with seven rebounds
- Costa tied his career high with 12 points while senior guard Chad Kratzer added ten points, four steals and a pair of rebounds
- Ratcliff was limited to a season-low eight points, and he added four rebounds, three blocked shots, three steals and two assists while senior guard Porter Kelly and senior forward Liam Cummiskey each had seven points with Kelly adding three rebounds and two assists and Cummiskey grabbing two boards
- Flood contributed five points while senior guard Colin Farrell had four points and sophomore forward Brave Haugh registered three points and two rebounds
- The Hounds shot 26-for-68 from the field (38.2 percent), 8-for-33 on three-pointers and 12-for-17 at the foul line
