Hounds Hold On for Landmark Conference Win at Goucher
TOWNSON, Md. --- The Moravian University men’s basketball squad saw a 15-point lead close to a five-point victory as the Greyhounds held on for a 77-72 Landmark Conference victory at Goucher College Wednesday evening.

How It Happened
- The Gophers scored the opening basket of the game before junior guard George Cutler hit a lay-up to make it 2-2. The squads traded baskets with the score tied at 6-6 before the Hounds went on a 7-0 run to take a 13-6 lead on a lay-up from sophomore guard JJ Kolumber at the 12:56 mark. The Blue & Grey stretched the advantage to nine points at 17-8 after a lay-up by senior forward Marquis Ratcliff midway through the first half
- Goucher got back within five points twice before the Greyhounds pushed the lead into double digits at 26-16 on a pair of free throws from sophomore guard Dylan Costa with 5:33 to go in the opening half. Ratcliff gave Moravian a 32-18 edge with a lay-up at the 3:48 mark, and the Hounds took a 36-25 advantage into the intermission
- Senior guard Porter Kelly sank a lay-up for the first points of the second half, and Moravian's edge reached a game-high 15 points at 50-35 when senior guard Chad Kratzer drained a three-pointer just over five minutes into the half. The Blue & Grey saw their edge dip below ten points when the Gophers pulled within six at 62-56 with just over seven minutes to play
- Ratcliff connected on a jumper at the 5:21 mark to get the edge back into double digits at 66-56. Goucher did get within five points at 75-70 with 22 seconds remaining before Kolumber drained two free throws to seal the victory
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had three players in double figures with Ratcliff netting a team-high 23 points to go with seven rebounds and three blocked shots
- Kelly tossed in 20 points to go along with six boards and five assists while Kratzer finished with ten points, five rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists
- Kolumber recorded a career-best six points while senior forward Liam Cummiskey contributed six points and five rebounds
- Costa and freshman guard Nico Pulieri both had five points with Costa adding two rebounds while Cutler added two points and three steals
- The Hounds shot 27-for-58 from the field (46.6 percent), 5-for-28 on three-pointers and 18-for-23 at the foul line while forcing the Gophers into 17 turnovers
