Moravian Races Past McDaniel in Non-Conference Action
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men’s lacrosse team scored the only five goals of the first half on the way to an 11-3 non-conference victory over visiting McDaniel College on John Makuvek Field Thursday.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds opened the scoring with just under five minutes to go in the first quarter as freshman long stick midfielder Christian Hantson netted a man-up goal off a pass from freshman attack Jack Minetti. Just 19 seconds later, Minetti found the net on the same man-up opportunity with an assist by junior attack Nick Coffaro as the Blue & Grey led 2-0 after 15 minutes of action
- Minetti pushed the edge to 3-0 in the first minute of the second quarter off a pass from Coffaro, and he completed a first-half hat trick a minute later with an assist by senior attack Ryan Kokoszka. Junior midfielder Adam Twist swept a loose ball into the net with 3:48 left in the opening half as the Hounds took a 5-0 lead into the intermission
- The Green Terror netted the first two goals of the second half to cut the Moravian lead to 5-2 with 7:12 on the clock. However, the Blue & Grey needed just 19 seconds to bounce back with sophomore midfielder Robert Celona scoring an unassisted goal. Kokoszka found the net 50 seconds later to restore the Hounds' five-goal lead as Moravian took a 7-2 edge after 45 minutes of play
- Minetti scored twice to begin the fourth quarter while Kokoszka and Coffaro added goals around McDaniel's final goal of the contest
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had six players record a point with Minetti scoring five goals to go with a pair of assists and three ground balls
- Kokoszka added two goals, an assist and a pair of ground balls while Coffaro contributed a goal and three assists
- Celona, Twist and Hantson each had one goal with Twist scooping up a pair of ground balls
- Sophomore face-off specialist Owen Deady went 11-for-15 on face-offs with three ground balls while senior short stick defensive midfielder RJ Toogood led the Blue & Grey with six ground balls
- Junior goalie Liam Kelly registered seven saves and four ground balls in 58 minutes of action while freshman goalie Rory Jenkins made one save in his first collegiate action
- Sophomore short stick defensive midfielder Jake Bicking posted three ground balls while junior long stick midfielder Andrew Cassese and freshman midfielder Carter Grant both recorded a pair of ground balls
- The Hounds held a 34-25 advantage in shots and a 34-26 edge in ground balls, and the squad won 12-of-18 face-offs and went 21-for-24 on clearing attempts
