Moravian Shuts Out RPI at Spring Games
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. --- The Moravian University softball squad posted its second shutout of the season, defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 7-0, to wrap up action on the second day of the PFX Spring Games.

How It Happened
- The Greyhounds got onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run to left field by junior catcher Marcie Silberman on the first hit of the game for either squad. The homer was Silberman's second of the season
- The Blue & Grey tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fifth frame for a 4-0 advantage. Graduate student second baseman Ajala Elmore tripled to lead off the inning, and she score on an RBI ground out from junior right fielder Madison Berning. Junior third baseman Sydney Andrews drew a walk before Berning's grounder, and sophomore centerfielder Shayla Morgan followed with an infield single. Senior first baseman Lindsey Gawrys drove in both Andrews and Morgan with a two-RBI single to center
- Moravian pushed three runs home in the bottom of the sixth for a 7-0 lead. Senior left fielder Sage Snyder drew a walk to lead off the inning, and she raced home on a two-out RBI single by Andrews. Berning ripped an RBI double to bring in sophomore pinch runner Cassandra Farrell while Berning raced home on an RBI single from Morgan
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian registered seven hits in the contest with Morgan going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI
- Gawrys was 1-for-3 with two RBIs while Berning went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, a run and a double
- Silberman also posted a 1-for-3 game with a run, an RBI and her 24th career home run to move into a tie for fourth in program history
- Elmore and Andrews were both 1-for-2 with a run, and Elmore added a triple while Andrews had an RBI
- Snyder and Farrell each touched the plate once
- Junior Sarah DeStefano tossed her second shutout of the season as she scattered two hits and a walk while striking out nine batters
