Five Moravian Student-Athletes Named College Sports Communicators Softball Academic All-District
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University seniors Lindsey Gawrys and Sage Snyder, junior Sarah DeStefano and sophomores Kyra Holtje and Shayla Morgan have been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball Team for NCAA Division III schools.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University seniors Lindsey Gawrys and Sage Snyder, junior Sarah DeStefano and sophomores Kyra Holtje and Shayla Morgan have been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Softball Team for NCAA Division III schools.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve that has played in 90 percent of the team's game or started 66 percent of the team's contests this year. For pitchers, the minimums are 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched.
By making the All-District Team, the quintet is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CSC Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Tuesday, June 17. Moravian has had 56 Greyhounds named CSC Academic All-Americans®.
The group helped Moravian to a 40-9 record in 2025 to go with a 13-3 mark in Landmark Conference action as the Greyhounds earned the top seed in the 2024 Landmark Conference Tournament. Moravian captured its 12th Landmark Conference title and made its 21st appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, hosting a regional at Blue & Grey Field from May 15-17 as the Hounds won their seventh NCAA Regional title. Moravian also hosted an NCAA Division III Super Regional at Blue & Grey Field on May 23-24.
Gawrys, a health sciences major with a minor in psychology and a 3.84 grade-point average, was named to the 2025 Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive season. Gawrys posted a .331 average this season with 47 hits, 36 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, one home run, 26 walks and 35 RBIs. She had a .345 career batting average to go with 182 hits, 133 runs, 112 RBIs, 38 doubles, eight triples, 12 homers and 78 walks while making the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region V First Team in 2022 and the Third Team in 2024. Gawrys been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List seven times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. Gawrys was also selected as Moravian's 2025 Outstanding Senior Female Athlete.
Snyder, a health sciences major with a focus on speech language pathology and a 3.95 grade-point average, earned a spot on the 2025 Landmark All-Conference First Team for the third straight campaign. Snyder had a .356 average this spring to go with 48 hits, 39 runs, 12 doubles, one triple, one homers, 25 walks, 22 stolen bases and 29 RBIs. Snyder, who made the 2025 NFCA All-Region V Second Team and the 2024 NFCA All-Region V Third Team, posted 135 hits, 113 runs, 27 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 81 RBIs, 61 walks, 54 stolen bases and a .338 average in four seasons. Snyder been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List eight times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. She also served as co-chair of Moravian's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Snyder was also selected as Moravian's 2025 Blue & Grey Senior Female Scholar-Athlete.
DeStefano, a biology major with a 3.58 grade-point average, was selected as the 2025 Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year as well as a member of the Landmark All-Conference First Team and the NFCA All-Region V First Team. She was honored on the 2024 Landmark All-Conference Second Team as an outfielder after making the Second Team in 2023 as a pitcher while being named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year in 2023. DeStefano registered a 1.07 earned run average this season with a 22-4 record, 10 shutouts, a save, 24 complete games and 142 strikeouts in 177 innings in the circle, and she had a .392 batting average this season with 31 hits, six doubles, two triples and 21 RBIs at the plate. In three seasons, DeStefano, the 2025 NCAA Division III Bethlehem (Pa.) Regional and 2023 NCAA Division III Medford (Mass.) Regional Most Outstanding Player, is 40-9 in the circle with a save, 14 shutouts, 241 strikeouts and a 1.59 ERA in 330.1 innings, and she has 109 hits, 43 runs, ten doubles, four triples, 18 stolen bases, 56 RBIs and a .378 average at the plate. DeStefano has been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List four times, Moravian's Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society and a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
Holtje, a health sciences major with a focus on athletic training and a 3.58 grade-point average, was named to the 2025 Landmark All-Conference First Team and the NFCA All-Region V third Team. Holtje registered a 12-2 record in the circle this spring with 41 strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA in 79.2 innings, and she had 36 hits, 29 runs, seven doubles, four homers and 39 RBIs at the plate. In two campaigns, Holtje has 38 hits, 32 runs, seven doubles, four home runs and 39 RBIs to go with a 12-2 record, 48 strikeouts and a 1.99 ERA in 88 innings of work. Holtje has been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List three times and will be a member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
Morgan, a biology major with a 3.63 grade-point average, was selected to the 2025 Landmark All-Conference Second Team for the second consecutive spring. Morgan recorded a .339 average this year with 37 hits, 24 runs, two triples, seven RBIs and 16 stolen bases. In two seasons at Moravian, Morgan has 60 hits, 44 runs, two triples, nine RBIs and 37 stolen bases. Morgan has been a member of the Moravian Dean's Honors List three times and will be a member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.
