Greyhounds Drop Hard-Fought Match at DeSales
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian University women’s volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match at host DeSales University, falling 3-2 in non-conference action Wednesday evening.

How It Happened
- The Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the opening set before the Greyhounds began to rally back. The Blue & Grey eventually tied the set at 19-19; however, DeSales moved back ahead 23-20. Moravian scored six of the final seven points in the set to win 26-24 and take a 1-0 lead
- The Hounds held an early 4-1 edge in the second set while DeSales came back to take a 7-5 advantage. The Bulldogs eventually led by six points at 19-13 before Moravian rallied back for a 23-22 edge. After DeSales had a 24-23 lead, the Blue & Grey scored four of five points to record a 27-25 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match
- DeSales jumped out to a 5-1 edge in the third set; however, the Greyhounds came back to knot the set score at 6-6. The score was tied at 15-15 when the Bulldogs scored 10 of 14 points to take the set 25-19 and cut the Moravian advantage to 2-1
- The Bulldogs led the entire in the fourth set, posting a 25-17 set win to even the match at 2-2
- The fifth set saw DeSales get out to a 7-4 edge before three straight points from the Hounds evened the set at 7-7. After the Bulldogs went back ahead, Moravian made it 12-11 before DeSales scored the final three points to win the contest
Inside the Numbers
- Junior outside hitter Gabbie Reigner led Moravian with 16 kills to go with 18 digs while senior outside hitter Caroline Melillo contributed 12 kills and seven digs
- Junior middle blocker Payton Reuber also recorded 12 kills to go along with four blocks while sophomore middle blocker Kate McBrierty added six kills and five blocks
- Junior outside hitter Kelly Tempalsky contributed four kills and four digs while sophomore opposite hitter Ella Kilko posted two kills and two digs for the Hounds
- Senior setter Ally Plitnick registered 40 assists, 17 digs, three blocks and three kills while junior libero Sam Love posted 29 digs and nine assists
- Junior defensive specialist Molly Hughes had 13 digs while sophomore defensive specialist Madalyn Kocsis added a pair of service aces and two digs
