Hounds Split Doubleheader with Keystone at RussMatt Invitational
AUBURNDALE, Fla. --- The Moravian University baseball squad split a doubleheader with Keystone College at the RussMatt Invitational Friday, winning the opener, 15-4, and falling in the nightcap, 13-8.

How It Happened – Game #1
- The Giants scored twice in the top of the first inning to take a quick 2-0 lead
- The Greyhounds answered with three runs in the bottom of the first to move ahead 3-2. Freshman shortstop David Vozzo led off with a single, and graduate student designated hitter Cole Cherkas singled before sophomore first baseman Wyatt Harrar connected on a three-run homer to left field, his team-leading fifth home run of the season
- Keystone pushed two runs across the plate in the top of the second to retake a 4-3 edge
- The Hounds countered with five runs in the bottom of the second frame to take an 8-4 advantage. Freshman second baseman Nathan Jones reached on a fielder's choice before scoring on a wild pitch. Graduate student center fielder David Olsakowski drew a walk and raced home when Vozzo reached on an error. Cherkas singled and Harrar drew a walk to load the bases before sophomore right fielder Matt Westcott ripped a three-RBI double
- Moravian scored four times in the bottom of the fourth to stretch the lead to 12-4. Vozzo reached on an error and Cherkas doubled before Harrar connected on a two-RBI double, scoring Vozzo and Cherkas. Harrar raced home on a failed pickoff attempt of freshman third baseman Troy Rabosky, who had singled. Westcott connected on an RBI sacrifice fly to bring in Rabosky
- The Greyhounds finished off the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Rabosky led off with a double, and he raced home on an RBI single by Westcott. Senior left fielder Nick Henry drove in Westcott with an RBI single, and Henry scored the final run on an RBI double by Olsakowski
- Graduate student Aaron Flyte started on the mound for the Hounds, and he struck out three batters in 5.2 innings of work. Senior Matt Snyder tossed the final 1.1 innings with two strikeouts
How It Happened – Game #2
- The Hounds jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning in the nightcap. Vozzo led off with a single, and both Harrar and Rabosky both walked to load the bases. Henry ripped a two-RBI double to score Vozzo and Harrar while Rabosky raced home on an RBI single from senior catcher Connor Wengryn. Jones finished off the inning with an RBI double that scored Henry
- Keystone countered with three runs in the bottom of the first frame to cut Moravian's edge to 4-3
- The Giants added two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-4 lead
- The Greyhounds knotted the contest at 5-5 in the top of the fourth inning. Cherkas led off with a double and Harrar and Rabosky drew walks to load the bases before Westcott connected on an RBI sacrifice fly to score Cherkas
- Keystone retook the lead at 8-5 with three runs in the bottom of the fourth
- The Blue & Grey pulled within a run in the top of the fifth. Wengryn led off with a single and scored on an RBI triple by Vozzo, who then raced home on a passed ball
- The Giants answered back in the bottom of the fifth to push to 10-7, and Keystone added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth
- Moravian finished the scoring with a run in the top of the seventh. Wengryn led off with a single, and he scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Olsakowski
- Sophomore Ryan Grill started on the hill for the Blue & Grey and tossed three innings while freshman EJ Youngling pitched two innings with three strikeouts. Freshman Brandon Holzinger tossed an inning
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had 20 hits between the two games with Cherkas collecting four hits, four runs and a pair of doubles
- Vozzo recorded three hits, five runs, two RBIs and a triple while Harrar had two hits, four runs, five RBIs, four walks and a homer, the seventh of his career
- Westcott registered two this, five RBIs, three runs and a double while Rabosky added two hits, three runs and a double
- Henry posted two hits, two run and three RBIs while Wengryn had two hits, two runs and an RBI
- Jones contributed two hits, a run, a double and an RBI while Olsakowski had a hit, a run, a double and an RBI
