Moravian Rallies Past Drew in Landmark Conference Series Opener
MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian University baseball squad rallied with five runs in the top of the eighth inning with just one hit in the inning to defeat host Drew University, 10-6, in the first game of a Landmark Conference series Tuesday afternoon.

How It Happened
- The Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and Drew added a run in the bottom of the third for a 3-0 advantage
- The Greyhounds got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning with a run to cut the deficit to 3-1. Freshman third baseman Troy Rabosky drew a one-out walk and scored on a throwing error by the Rangers later in the inning
- The Blue & Grey plated three runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. Sophomore first baseman Wyatt Harrar drew a two-out walk while sophomore right fielder Matt Westcott was hit by a pitch and Rabosky walked again to load the bases. Freshman catcher Ronnie Werkheiser followed with a three-RBI single to score all three runners
- The Hounds pushed the edge to 5-3 with a run in the top of the sixth frame as graduate student designated hitter Connor Wengryn led off with a walk and eventually raced home on an RBI groundout by freshman shortstop David Vozzo
- Drew answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to move back ahead 6-5
- Moravian pushed five runs home in the top of the eighth to finish the scoring after taking a 10-6 lead. Wengryn led off with a double while freshman center fielder Luke Keitsock was hit by a pitch. Graduate student left fielder David Olsakowki reached on a sacrifice bunt attempt that loaded the bases. Graduate student pinch hitter Cole Cherkas drew an RBI walk to score Wengryn and tie the game while Harrar added a walk the pushed Keitsock home with the go ahead run. Westcott followed with an RBI walk to score Olsakowski while sophomore pinch runner Domenic Venini trotted home on an RBI walk by Rabosky. Harrar scored the final run of the contest on an RBI sacrifice fly by freshman second baseman Nathan Jones
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had just three hits in the game, but the Greyhounds drew 12 walks and three batters hit by pitches
- Wengryn had a hit, a double and scored twice while Werkheiser was 1-for-3 with three RBIs
- Olsakowski added a hit and a run while Harrar and Rabosky both scored twice and had an RBI
- Westcott added a run and an RBI while Vozzo, Cherkas and Jones each had RBIs
- Venini and Keitsock both scored once
- Graduate student Aaron Flyte made the start on the mound and had two strikeouts in five innings of action. Senior Chris Medei faced three batters while senior Matt Snyder improved to 6-0 on the season with three strikeouts in the final four innings
